OUR CURRENT PROGRAMS

Doctor for a Day encourages high school students, especially those from rural or underrepresented backgrounds, to consider a healthcare career. Through presentations by medical professionals and hands-on experiences like using medical equipment and practicing CPR, students gain insight into the field and are inspired to pursue this rewarding path. Learn more about Doctor for a Day.

Health Careers Camp helps area middle and high school students gain insight into a wide variety of healthcare careers through presentations by medical, dental, and behavioral health professionals, Q & A sessions, and fun hands-on activities. Check out photos from last year’s camp!

Mental Health Careers Academy helps Valley County students explore careers in mental health and provides the tools, experiences, and mentorship to help students thrive in college and beyond — all while promoting awareness, resilience, and mental wellness in our Idaho communities. Learn more and register for Mental Health Careers Academy!

Our long-term goal is to offer more K-12 health career exploration opportunities, but our federal funding allows us to dedicate only10% of our base grant budget toward pre-college projects. SW ID AHEC is always open to exploring potential partnerships to enable expansion of our outreach to youth. We offer coordination, budget management, project oversight, promotion, evaluation, and more. Please contact Director, Katrina Hoff if interested.
