Mental Health Careers Academy equips students with the knowledge, skills, and support to succeed in college and beyond, while building resilience and promoting mental wellness across Idaho communities.

Valley County students entering 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade

What’s Included

Summer Course

• 5-week, live online course taught by a licensed mental health professional (weekday mornings)
• Learn about communication skills, mental health science, and a variety of behavioral health careers
• Includes mandatory in-person orientation and final presentation events in McCall
• Chromebook provided and you get to keep it after completing the course!

School-Year Workshops

• Monthly virtual sessions with mental health professionals and educators
• Interactive topics to deepen learning and career exploration

Summer Work-Based Experience

• Engaging, project-based experience working with local mental health organizations and providers

Mentoring

• Each student is paired with a college mentor studying social work, psychology, or counseling. Mentors provide guidance, encouragement, and college and career insight throughout the entire program.

Location: Primarily virtual (in-person orientation and capstone required; summer work-based experience may be in-person)
