Connecting Students to Careers

Idaho AHEC pipeline programs such as Orientation to Health Careers introduce young people living in rural communities to various primary care professions and careers in public health.

We partner with student organizations such as HOSA and seek out opportunities to partner with other organizations and educators that share our mission.

Idaho AHEC also does outreach to minority student organizations at the various colleges and universities throughout the state to encourage their members to consider pursuing health career programs.

Connecting Professionals to Communities

Idaho AHEC supports healthcare professionals by providing a wide array of resources on our website, including information about student loan repayment, continuing medical education, advocacy, jobs, preceptor resources, and an Events Calendar.

By statute, the Idaho Area Health Education Center Director serves on the Rural Health Care Access and Physician Incentive Program grant review boards, as well as the State Loan Repayment Program grant review board.

Connecting Communities to Better Health

AHEC provides information about community health resources through the AHEC website and electronic newsletter Frontier Footnotes which is distributed quarterly. AHEC also partners with other organizations to present health fairs and other events to increase health literacy and supports policies that encourage more healthy living.
